Privacy Policy

Important: This Policy explains how ShortPrep handles personal data in plain language. It is not legal advice. The operator should have counsel review it for GDPR/Latvian compliance.

1. Controller

The data controller is Andrejs Zabarovskis (Latvia), operating ShortPrep at https://shortprep.com.

Contact for privacy requests: [email protected]. Alias [email protected] may be listed; replies may come from the Gmail address until dedicated mailboxes are ready. We do not currently appoint a separate Data Protection Officer.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: email address; password hash (we do not store plaintext passwords); email verification status; Pro/subscription status; daily usage counters.
• Verification & security tokens: hashed email-verification and password-reset tokens with expiry; session/auth cookies needed to keep you signed in.
• Subscription / billing references: Lemon Squeezy subscription ID, customer ID, payment/session references, subscription status and period dates, cancel reason/feedback you submit. Card data is handled by Lemon Squeezy — not stored by ShortPrep.
• Technical data: IP address, user agent, approximate security/application logs.
• Content you upload: audio, images, video, subtitles, and related files processed to deliver the tools; retained only as needed for the job and then purged by automated cleanup.
• Problem reports: category, message text, optional email, IP address, user agent, and (if logged in) your user id — submitted via the Report form.
• Cookie / preference data: theme, language, and cookie-consent choices stored in the browser (local storage / cookies).

3. Purposes & legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): create and secure accounts, verify email, run tools, provide Pro features, handle cancellation.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): security, abuse prevention, debugging, improving reliability, responding to reports.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): non-essential cookies/analytics where required (cookie banner).
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): tax/accounting records where applicable (often held primarily by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record).

4. Processors & sharing

We use service providers (processors / independent controllers as applicable) to run the Service:

• Oracle Cloud — application hosting (VM).
• Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and reverse-proxy / DDoS protection.
• Resend — transactional email (verification, password reset, report notifications).
• Lemon Squeezy — payments, subscriptions, invoices/taxes as applicable.

We do not sell personal data. We share data only as needed to operate the Service, comply with law, or protect rights and safety.

5. International transfers

Some providers (including Cloudflare, Resend, and Lemon Squeezy) may process data in the United States or other countries outside the EEA. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and/or the provider’s stated transfer mechanisms. Ask us if you need more detail about a specific processor.

6. Retention

• Account data: while the account is active, then a limited period afterward for security, dispute, and legal reasons.
• Uploaded files: typically purged within about one hour (audio/image leftovers) or sooner for many video leftovers; not long-term storage.
• Verification / reset tokens: until used or expired, then discarded.
• Reports: kept as needed to investigate and improve the Service (often months; longer if tied to an open dispute).
• Billing references: retained as needed for subscription lifecycle, accounting, and fraud prevention (aligned with Lemon Squeezy records where relevant).

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and security. Optional analytics cookies run only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Language and theme preferences may be stored locally in your browser. You can clear site data to reset choices.

8. Your rights

If GDPR (or equivalent EU/EEA law) applies, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Latvia: Data State Inspectorate / Datu valsts inspekcija).

To exercise rights, email [email protected] from the address linked to your account when possible. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the higher age of digital consent in your country). Do not create an account if you are under that age.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, additional notice on the site or by email.

1. Контролёр

Контролёр данных — Andrejs Zabarovskis (Латвия), оператор ShortPrep (https://shortprep.com).

Запросы по приватности: [email protected]. Алиас [email protected] может быть указан; ответы могут приходить с Gmail. Отдельный DPO сейчас не назначен.

2. Какие данные собираем

• Аккаунт: email; хеш пароля; статус подтверждения email; статус Pro/подписки; дневные счётчики использования.
• Токены: хеши токенов подтверждения email и сброса пароля со сроком действия; cookie сессии.
• Биллинг: ID подписки/клиента Lemon Squeezy, ссылки на платежи, статус и даты периода, причина отмены. Данные карты обрабатывает Lemon Squeezy — ShortPrep их не хранит.
• Технические данные: IP, user agent, служебные логи.
• Загрузки: аудио/изображения/видео и связанные файлы — только для обработки, затем автоочистка.
• Репорты: категория, текст, опциональный email, IP, user agent, user id (если вы вошли) — через форму Report.
• Предпочтения: тема, язык, согласие на cookie в браузере.

3. Цели и правовые основания (GDPR ст. 6)

• Договор: аккаунт, инструменты, Pro, отмена подписки.
• Законный интерес: безопасность, антифрод, отладка, ответы на репорты.
• Согласие: необязательные cookie/аналитика (баннер).
• Юридическая обязанность: учёт/налоги, где применимо (часто у Lemon Squeezy как MoR).

4. Процессоры и передача

• Oracle Cloud — хостинг.
• Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, прокси/защита.
• Resend — транзакционная почта.
• Lemon Squeezy — платежи и подписки.

Мы не продаём персональные данные.

5. Международные передачи

Часть провайдеров (Cloudflare, Resend, Lemon Squeezy) может обрабатывать данные в США и других странах вне ЕЭЗ. Где требуется, используются SCC и/или иные механизмы провайдера.

6. Сроки хранения

• Аккаунт — пока активен, плюс ограниченный срок после.
• Файлы — обычно до ~1 часа (аудио/картинки) или быстрее для многих видео.
• Токены — до использования или истечения.
• Репорты — пока нужны для разбора (часто месяцы; дольше при споре).
• Биллинг-ссылки — на срок жизненного цикла подписки/учёта/антифрода.

7. Cookie

Обязательные cookie — для входа и безопасности. Опциональная аналитика — только после согласия в баннере. Язык и тема могут храниться локально.

8. Ваши права

При применимости GDPR: доступ, исправление, удаление, ограничение, переносимость, возражение, отзыв согласия; жалоба в надзорный орган (в Латвии — Datu valsts inspekcija).

Запросы: [email protected] (желательно с email аккаунта). Может потребоваться проверка личности.

9. Дети

Сервис не предназначен для детей младше 16 лет (или более высокого возраста цифрового согласия в вашей стране).

10. Изменения

Мы можем обновлять Политику; существенные изменения отражаются датой выше и при необходимости уведомлением.
